Friends! We did it, we made it to 2019! I still feel like 2000 was only a few years ago. You know when you go to watch a movie or you listen to a song “that’s not that old”, and then you realize it was 19 years ago when it first came out? Am I the only one?

Anyways, 2018 was a year of big change for my husband and I. You can read more about that here. 2019 is going to be the year of growth. Now that we are settled in Victoria, it’s time for us to spread our roots and grow in our new community, in my business and with our personal goals.

I’m someone who frequently sets and reevaluates her goals. I’m always striving to do better, learn more and become the best version of myself. Well, I shouldn’t say “always”. I do fall off the wagon and become unmotivated every now and then. But ultimately, I know the ideal lifestyle I want to live and I know that each step in that direction is a good one.


This year, my plan is to keep reaching for those goals that help me grow. That’s growing in my community, my following, my revenue, my skills, and in my personal life.

While there are numbers associated with these goals, I don’t have a date set for when I have to accomplish that. I mean, the sooner the better but steady growth is what I’m after.

Each of these goals has a list of action steps to go with them.

I actually have each goal written on a post-it, laid out on my wall behind my desk. Each goal has it’s associated action steps underneath the goal. This way I can always see my goals and what I need to be working on.


Since we’ve moved here we’ve been on a tighter budget leading to eating a lot of cheap (but delicious) carbs. I was letting the winter rain stop me from taking Ollie out and was breezing through multiple series on Netflix and Crave.

And you know how that makes me feel? Like the crap I was eating.

Over the last week, I downloaded a ton of books to my Kindle and have basically been reading for the entire morning. I want to keep this up, at least the reading part. I have a bigger and better plan for my mornings.

One of the books I read was from the Miracle Morning Series. The book talks about 6 morning habits to set you up for the day.  My plan is to implement this as a ritual I use to start every day.

Morning Goals/Routine

  • Set Google Home alarm (in living room) for 5:30 am. This forces me not only to get up out of bed but into the living room to turn it off.
  • Turn on lamp to help myself and Jordan wake up. I actually have to find the automatic timer we had for our Christmas lights or our tree so that we can have the lamp automatically go on at the same time as the alarm goes off. Genius right?
  • Brush Teeth and wash face.
  • Drink a glass of water and take vitamins.
  • Pour a cup of coffee (set for 5:30 am).
  • Turn on heat in my office, layout yoga mat.
  • Sit in silence on my mat with coffee. You could call this meditation.
  • Mentally set intentions for the day.
  • Yoga flow.
  • Write 500 words. (I haven’t told anyone yet so shhhh, but I’m writing a book!)
  • Pour another coffee and get my work goals done.

I did all this today for the first time and I was done by 7:15am! If I’m being honest, that’s earlier than I was waking up before the Christmas break even though Jordan was already up and gone to work.

More Nutritious Eating

This really needs to change. If we’re going to live a healthier lifestyle, we need to start with fueling our bodies properly. As much as I love to make (and eat) things like these cruffins, I also need to eat more wholesomely. So, don’t be surprised if you start to see a few more nutritious recipes on the blog or in the Ebooks I’m launching soon.

Most of my recipes have to do with dinner parties and hosting guests, but that doesn’t mean they can’t also be healthy and wholesome options. This Red Thai Coconut Curry soup is the perfect example. It’s so flavourful and yet so good for you. The broth is actually anti-inflammatory and aids in digestion plus it’s full of anti-oxidants and is great for your skin.

Who says you can’t serve soup as your dinner party entree? Pair this soup with some homemade rice wraps or springrolls as your appy, and a made-from-scratch (or not) coconut ice cream and voila, you have a Thai themed dinner menu.

Being more active

I asked for a Fitbit for Christmas so I could stay accountable for my amount of activity throughout the day. Ps. If you have a fitbit, and want to join me click here to add me as a friend. Please make sure you send me a message though, so I know you found me through the blog!

My goal is to make my 10 000 steps and also to be the winner in any weekend or workweek competitions, ha!

With that being said, it’s also my goal to take Ollie out for a walk every day, rain or shine.  I love our neighbourhood, and if I want to go on a long walk, I can actually walk Ollie to the beach or up a mountain or downtown.  I really love living in BC. Victoria is so beautiful.

A work in progress

There’s a TON of things listed above. Some would say you should start by changing or implementing just one or two things. I’m a go big or go home kind of person and I also realize that progress is better than perfection. If I slip up or miss a day of something I’m not going to beat myself up about it. I’m going to remotivate myself and get back to it. I have HUGE goals for myself and our life and they start with the little habits I create and maintain each day.
